13 Little Blue Envelopes
Johnson, Maureen Inside little blue envelope 1 are $1,000 and instructions to buy a plane ticket. In envelope 2 are directions to a specific London flat. The note in envelope 3 tells Ginny: Find a starving artist. Because of envelope 4, Ginny and her artist, a playwright/thief/bloke-about-town called Keith, go to Scotland together, with somewhat disastrous -- though utterly romantic -- results. Ginny isn't sure she'll see Keith again, and definitely doesn't know what to think about him. Could the answer be in the envelopes? Ginny doesn't know it, but adventures in Rome and Paris are in envelopes 6 and 8. The rules are that she has to open one at a time, in order, so perhaps it isn't surprising that she discovers things about her life and love one by one. Everything about Ginny will change this summer, and it's all because of the 13 Little Blue Envelopes.

47
From the Publisher: The story you are about to read concerns certain events that occurred in the early days of my life. It all happened over a hundred and seventy years ago. For many of you it might sound like a tall tale because I am no older today than I was back in the year 1832. But this is no whopper I'm telling; it is a story about my boyhood as a slave and my fated encounter with the amazing Tall John from beyond Africa, who could read dreams, fly between galaxies, and make friends with any animal no matter how wild. In his first book for young adults, bestselling author Walter Mosley weaves historical and speculative fiction into a powerful narrative about the nature of freedom. 47 is a young slave boy living under the watchful eye of a brutal slave master. His life seems doomed until he meets a mysterious runaway slave, Tall John. 47 soon finds himself swept up in an otherworldly battle and a personal struggle for his own liberation. Deeply compelling, 47 is reminiscent of the literary masterworks of Nancy Farmer, Philip Pullman, and Octavia Butler.

A Campfire Girl's Test of Friendship
Stewart, Jane L. 1914. Volume V of the six-volume Campfire Girls Series. Jane Stewart created the first set of Campfire Girls, which began with A Campfire Girl's First Council Fire. The Girls were best friends Bessie and Zara, and they belonged to the campfire girls (a version of the Girl Scouts). Among their adventures were interacting with the Romany, foiling kidnapers, beating the boys at sports, showing up snooty city girls, and saving Zara's father from a counterfeiting charge. This book begins: Oh, what a glorious day! cried Bessie King, the first of the members of the Manasquan Camp Fire Girls of America to emerge from the sleeping house of Camp Sunset, on Lake Dean, and to see the sun sparkling on the water of the lake. She was not long along in her enjoyment of the scene, however. See other titles by this author available from Kessinger Publishing.

A Garland for Girls
Alcott, Louisa May 1887. From the author of Little Women, these stories were written for my own amusement during a period of enforced seclusion. The flowers which were my solace and pleasure suggested titles for the tales and gave an interest to the work. If my girls find a little beauty or sunshine in these common blossoms, their old friend will not have made her Garland in vain. Contents: May Flowers; An Ivy Spray and Ladies' Slippers; Pansies; Water-Lilies; Poppies and Wheat; Little Button-Rose; and Mountain-Laurel and Maidenhair.
